UCLH – Rainbow #weareyourNHS

We were very proud to have produced this voluntary installation for the NHS at University College London Hospital,  donating our time and materials to such a great cause so close to all our hearts! Working with Early Hours Ltd, we designed, produced and installed this display in a couple of days.

The group of leading London hospitals wanted to respond to the public’s incredible support during the global Covid-19 pandemic with their own rainbow symbol of thanks and reassurance as they continue to provide care for all patients.

We hope that it can bring a tiny touch of joy and raise morale amongst the staff, patients and public and judging by the feedback on social media this has!

You can support the fantastic team of doctors, surgeons, nurses and staff caring for ALL patients seeking treatment and care by visiting https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Cheryl-lobo

Fashion Awards 2019 – Royal Albert Hall

We were grateful to be involved again with Done and Dusted and to provide the set for the London Fashion Awards 2019 at The Royal Albert Hall.

This years stage design by Stufish was a black and white theme celebrating new creatives alongside some of the biggest names in fashion.

This event saw our team install over 150m of elliptical catwalk circling the entire Royal Albert Hall in just 10 hours.

Duchess of Malfi – Almeida Theatre

This set consisted of a high gloss black herringbone floor with a glass fronted truck unit moving on a motorised winch system.

Rather than using real tiles, we CNC cut MDF sheets and gave it a gloss spray finish to give a ceramic look.

Design by Chloe Lamford

West Side Story – Leicester Curve

Illusion had the pleasure of building the set for Leicester Curve’s production of West Side Story.

It involved an 8m tall winched truck and poly-carved rubbish pile.

Ten Times Table – Theatre Royal Windsor

Another great collaboration between Illusion and Bill Kenwright, for their most recent touring show, we built the long-since ‘grand’ ballroom of a hotel.

Our scenic team transformed the set into the old, wornout hotel with various paint techniques to recreate the required aged look.

Designed by Michael Holt.

Don’t Hate The Playaz – Series 2

Illusion worked with Misty Buckley to build items of the set for Series 2 of Don’t Hate The Playaz.

We constructed the backdrop using tall scaffold structures and mesh panels, all sprayed gold.

Hillsong – London O2

We provided this 24m wide stage complete with integrated LED dance floor for The Hillsong Church Conference at the London O2 arena.

The Argument – Theatre Royal Bath

This apartment – themed set incorporated a steel floating staircase and balcony with moving scenery on tracks, wheels and flown. British Theatre Guide said that the “set slides seamlessly back and forth to reveal a succession of (mostly) neutral-toned chic and desirable spaces enhancing a central living-room sofa and chair, reminiscent of Tom Stoppard’s The Real Thing or The Truth by Florian Zeller”

The Colour Purple – Leicester Curve

Illusion was honoured to build this set for the show’s first large-scale UK outing for this 2005 Broadway hit. Built from steel frames and clad in timber, this set incorporated moving trucks with a simple background, brought to life by their lighting.
